Scorch trials3/14/2023 ![]() They're both running through the Trans Flats, then Brenda turned off the flashlight, then "they were passing trough a narrow door then Brenda pulled him down to the floor. Then they crawled through a small square opening into the long, narrow compartment" (Dashner 187). ![]() Not to mention how when Thomas and Brenda were separated from the rest of the group, and they came across the group of Cranks, and then one of them grabbed Thomas and nearly killed him, but Brenda's quick thinking saved them both. ![]() Minho, being the big tough guy he is, was most likely thinking "I don't need his help" but he soon realized he can't do this alone, so he nodded for Thomas' help. It hurt him just to cough, there was no possible was that he could use all of his strength to get back up, to catch up to the group, and to keep running Thomas shows that it's okay to ask for help. ![]() If Minho were to try and get himself up, he would fail. Together they moved as fast as they could toward the building, Thomas doing most of the work" (Dashner 136-137). Thomas couldn't just leave him there to suffer, so he "grabbed their leader by the shoulders and dragged him to his feet.Minho coughed, winced again, but then nodded and wrapped one of his arms around Thomas's neck. The first place you can see this is when the big storm hits, and Minho is struck. Nature because storms are from nature, and the Group had no control over it, and was fighting to survive.Ī theme I noticed not only in the Scorch Trials, but also the Maze Runner, was that working together is always better than trying to work by yourself. In the end, Minho isn't horribly injured, he's well burnt, but nothing too serious. This is an example of Man VS. Thomas stops, grabbed him and helped him keep running. Then, worst comes to worst and the leader, Minho, is struck and Thomas looks back to see him on fire. He isn't described, whatsoever, you just know he was running to safety, and didn't make it. The energy nearly struck Thomas, and then soon enough it claimed its first victim-Jack. People were being blinded and deafened from the brightness and loudness of the lightning. The first sign of the storm was lightning, they fell from the sky in zigzagged lines, hitting random spots, random Gladers. Thomas finds time to talk to Teresa, she explains what is going on, and Brenda gets a hint that they weren't going to be together.Īnother major conflict that held a lot of suspense was when the terrible thunderstorm started to happen, and soon enough people were being struck by lightning, dying, and no one could do anything but keep running - for their own safety. Then Brenda shows signs by holding his hand, and talking to him about her hopes and dreams when they're asleep in the car together. He fights himself about trusting Teresa, since they designed the Maze together, but how she pretty much tortured him. His feelings for her are off and on, but it definitely stops him from clearly expressing his feelings for Teresa. Thomas has opened up to Brenda in a way he hasn't opened up to Teresa, he feels more comfortable with Brenda, and soon enough loses his trust in Teresa. Though, in the second book, Thomas meets a new girl, Brenda. In the first book, it is clearly stated that Thomas and Teresa like each other. One of the major conflicts was between Thomas and himself (Character VS Self).
